Oakhaven Mitts
We just passed the autumnal equinox earlier this week - fall is officially here! Fingerless mitts are one of my favorite things to knit and wear during cooler weather. They are so fast to make (usually just a couple evenings of knitting) and then they are perfect to toss into a bag, by the front door, in the glovebox - wherever you might need them so you are prepared for a bit of unexpected chill. Oakhaven Mitts are just right for this transitional weather with their lightweight fabric and little bit of lace that adds a little bit of elegance to your accessory drawer.
There are 3 sizes available - choose yours by measuring around the top of your palm around the knuckles and selecting the size that's the closest to (but not smaller than) this measurement. These mitts are perfect for the change of seasons and knit up quickly with less than half a skein of fingering weight yarn - a great chance to use up a partial skein leftover from a fingering weight sweater. I recommend a solid or semi-solid yarn to show off your stitches. Speckles can work really well too as long as they are not too variegated!
I used Knotty Pine Fiber Co. Bighorn Sock in the Bronze Mums colorway - a truly perfect fall color. You can check out what Kayla has in stock, and she also has an option to pre-order a sweater quantity of 2 or more skeins. You *just might* want to do that so you are prepped and ready for what's coming your way in October - a sweater design with the same lace pattern. See my project page and yardage quantities here to for a peek at what you'll need!
